The Journey
The unfortunate incident of MH17 claimed the lives of 289 innocent people, being deprived by the cruelness of war, leaving their beloved ones in disconsolate and grieves. Through the sorrows and pain, the incident reveals the core value of what human being has been yearning for – the pursuit of peace. Thus it came to realization that by letting go of hatred and living a fruitful life is what people should be striving onwards, in avoidance of repeating the tragedy itself.

In this tragedy, the journeys of these 289 souls elevated from their individual levels to the mass, arousing the attention of the public as vigilance, which is exactly the intention of our design where we hope to emphasize. The island will be differentiated into 4 zones, from east to west, to represent the 4 major trips of the journey: Aggregation, Takeoff, Life and Death, Sublimation; leading the people to travel from public recreational area gradually towards meditation zone. The entire process begins when the sun about to set, the skylight gradually fading out, till the moment when it turns into darkness, eplacement of the oozing artificia lights marks the end of the journey. The timing of the sunset coincided with the moment when the guests approach to the ‘Sublimation Zone’ from the ‘Aggregation Zone’.
